Our co-founders Jerry and Goldie Lippman believed in supporting the well-being of the people in their community. After all, they founded GOJO to find a better hand-cleaning solution for the factory workers in the city they called home.
We continue that tradition of strong community responsibility by actively supporting the health and well-being of others. It is this passion of contributing to society in ways that match our talents that helps us build a stronger community.
Today, we support our community in ways beyond the hand and surface hygiene solutions we make in three main ways: charitable partnerships, matching gift initiatives, and volunteering.
To ensure our support has a real impact, we have a focused strategy for our charitable partnerships. The majority of our charitable partnerships will be with organizations supporting Northeast Ohio youth, particularly disadvantaged youth in the five Ohio counties in which we have facilities (Ashland, Cuyahoga, Stark, Summit, and Wayne). We specifically want to help Northeast Ohio youth by improving their literacy rates, access to health care, and access to food. We believe supporting children in these ways will position them for greater success in all aspects of life, increasing the chance they enjoy a healthy, fruitful life.
While there are many important ways to support our communities, focusing on youth and families is a natural fit for us. As a Family Enterprise, children and families have been a core part of our identity dating back to when Jerry enjoyed treating neighborhood children with trips to baseball games and other fun activities. It is important we carry on that tradition and support the health and well-being of the next generation. Additionally, because a large percentage of disadvantaged youth in Northeast Ohio are people of color this approach aligns with our hope to over time help create greater equity in our communities. If you believe your organization aligns with this approach and are interested in a partnership, please visit our Charitable Contributions page for more info.
Our Matching Gift ProgramThe introduction of the GOJO Gives Back matching gift program in 2021 was designed to strengthen our community support and give team members a chance to further support causes important to them. Each year, GOJO matches donations from our generous team members to nearly 50 local and national causes that are important to our team members.
Volunteering in Our CommunityGOJO team members enjoy getting out into the community to help those in need. We want to make that easier and are in the process of formalizing a GOJO-sponsored volunteer program that will launch in 2023.
