David Mackay

David S. Mackay serves as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the healthcare business at GOJO Industries, the inventor of PURELL® Hand Sanitizer and the leading global producer and marketer of skin health and hygiene solutions for away-from-home settings. In this role, David leads a team focused on delivering innovative, clinically-based hygiene solutions to improve infection control and prevention in healthcare settings. He is also responsible for general business management, which includes P&L responsibility, business strategy and implementation as well as directing innovation and product development efforts.

David, who has more than 30 years of management and strategy development experience, has been with GOJO Industries since 1999 and has led the GOJO Healthcare team, which is comprised of the acute care, alternate care, innovation, clinical, sales and sales operations teams, since 2005. During his tenure, David has assembled a strong team and has led the GOJO healthcare business to dramatic growth and a strong hand hygiene leadership position in both the acute care and alternate care markets. Today, GOJO remains at the forefront of hand hygiene innovation and compliance with the recent launches of PURELL® Advanced formulations and SMARTLINK™ solutions, which include electronic hand hygiene measurement and monitoring systems as well as clinical implementation support. Hospitals in the United States and across the world have installed this new technology to measure and improve hand hygiene compliance to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

Prior to leading the healthcare business at GOJO, David was Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing Markets, at GOJO. In this role, he revitalized one of the company’s  cornerstone businesses by commercializing products and supporting processes designed to help manufacturing workers stay well and avoid occupational dermatitis through skin care and hygiene solutions.  His focus on identifying and meeting market and channel needs and sound business strategy resulted in significant growth.

David also held a number of positions during a 17-year career at Saint Gobain Abrasives in Worcester, Massachusetts, including Senior Product Manager, Business Reengineering and IT Project Manager, as well as sales positions in California, Arizona and Michigan. His responsibilities included strategy development, business management, inventory planning and management, product development, customer service management, business reengineering/IT project management, distribution and sales management.  In his last position at Saint Gobain Abrasives, he was responsible for managing multiple brands through multiple distribution channels to a dominant share position.

David, who holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing, management and organizational behavior from Babson College,  is a member of APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control & Prevention), SHEA (Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America) and is a long-time supporter of the United Way and numerous local charities. He resides in Hudson, Ohio, with his wife and children.
